No One of Consequence
Someone cue up the Twilight Zone Theme. Thanks, Rail.

You're about to step into another a dimension. Not a dimension of truth and honor, but of lies and dishonor. You are about to enter... The Republican Zone.

Submitted for your disapproval, one Former President George H.W. Bush, who whines about political discourse and name-calling in this country, while engaging in it himself.

In an interview with CBS News radio yesterday, former President George H.W. Bush called assailed the tone of our national discourse. “I don’t like it. The cables (TV) have a lot to do with it,” he said, adding that MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann were partly responsible:

The Republican elder statesman said, “It’s not just the right.” He complained, “there are plenty of people on the left.”

While he said he does not believe in personal name-calling, he singled out MSNBC personalities Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow calling them “sick puppies.”

“The way they treat my son and anyone who’s opposed to their point of view is just horrible,” Mr. Bush said.

Last night, Maddow invited Olbermann, who was out sick, to call in and discuss Bush’s statements on her show. “I think that I can speak on your behalf here and say that we’re very grateful for the former president’s concern about our health,” Olbermann joked. He then noted the irony behind Bush’s attack. “I mean he’s the father of the process that took us to the place we are now. He is the man who employed Roger Ailes. He and Roger Ailes are the men who ran the Willie Horton ad against Mike Dukakis.”

.... Uuuuuh... NO. I don't weigh a metric ton and my brain is much much bigger than a chickpea. Oh. And I also don't have a pimple on my ass that I used to weasel my coward ass out of service.

To Limpballs, I have this to say:

The NFL took one look at your bloated ass and said "SCREW YOU!" Break out the wine glasses, because Adam's buying tonight! Any day Limpballs is shot down is a good day for me and for all of America! To Rush's failure! KANPAI!

Congressman John Boehner (Pronounced BONER, because when two vowels go walking, the first one does the talking) (Asshole- Ohio) has posted a bit on his official Congressional bio demanding that people like me bow down, kiss his dumb ass and call him Bayner. Being a strong-willed, Grammar-minded, patriotic American liberal (The best kind!), I tell Boner NO! You'll pry my erection jokes from my cold dead hands!

Taliban Terrorist or American Conservative Asshat!

The rules are simple. The contestants will be given a series of quotes and asked to decide whether they are from the Taliban terrorists in Afghanistan or American Conservative Asshats who should shut their ignorant pieholes and let the President do his goddamn job. Are the contestants ready? Good! Let's begin the game!

Our first quote...

“The real question Americans are asking is, ‘What has President Obama actually accomplished?’ It is unfortunate that the president’s star power has outshined tireless advocates who have made real achievements working towards peace and human rights,”

Tireless advocates like John "Bomb, Bomb, Bomb Iran" McCain? *Chuckles*

So, contestants. Is it from a Taliban Terrorist or an American Conservative Asshat?

Next quote!

"We condemn the award of the Noble Peace Prize for Obama. We condemn the institute’s awarding him the peace prize. We condemn this year’s peace prize as unjust,”

Contestants! Is it Taliban Terrorist or American Conservative Asshat! I know, I know. It's just so hard to tell the two apart these days, isn't it?

Our final quote...

“Congratulations to President Obama on his prize. I’m not sure what the international community loved best; his waffling on Afghanistan, pulling defense missiles out of Eastern Europe, turning his back on freedom fighters in Honduras, coddling Castro, siding with Palestinians against Israel, or almost getting tough on Iran. The world may love it, but following in the footsteps of Jimmy Carter is not where America needs to go. Hopefully, this surprise award will give the President cause to reevaluate his current course.”

Alright, those are the three quotations. We'll be back with the startling answers after these messages from our sponsors.

An amusing clip from Friday's Rachel Maddow in which a British conservationist gets it on with a nearly extinct species of parrot.

Once again I ask. Why do conservatives hate America so much? And if they hate it, why don't they FUCKING LEAVE?!

Republicans have been in an uproar recently over video footage of children at a New Jersey elementary school singing the praises of President Barack Obama. The outrage has been fueled mainly by a constant drumbeat from conservative media. But on Friday it boiled over into the realm of political opportunism when the Republican National Committee sent out a fundraising appeal calling the episode an "indoctrination of our nations... children" and "fanaticism."

"Friend," RNC Chairman Michael Steele wrote, "this is the type of propaganda you would see in Stalin's Russia or Kim Jong Il's North Korea. I never thought the day would come when I'd see it here in America."

Alas, such "propaganda" has not been limited to despots, dictators and the Obama White House. As a savvy source points out, back in 2006 children from Gulf Coast states serenaded First Lady Laura Bush with a song praising the President, Congress, and Federal Emergency Management Agency for their response to -- of all things -- Hurricane Katrina. The lyrics were as follow:

Our country's stood beside us People have sent us aid. Katrina could not stop us, our hopes will never fade. Congress, Bush and FEMA People across our land Together have come to rebuild us and we join them hand-in-hand!

The event took place at that year's White House Easter Egg Roll and included roughly 100 children from Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. President Bush, it seems, wasn't in attendance during the song itself. But he was there earlier, when the First Lady read the book, Will You Be My Friend: A Bunny and Bird Story by Nancy Tafuri, to the children.

"After the reading," the Wall Street Journal reported at the time, "Mr. Bush asked, 'Did you like this book? Does it tell you about what people can do to help other people, what bird did to help bunny? Be kind to him and give him shelter.'"

The weather that day was described as a "chilly rain" which must have seemed appropriate given the fact that the Gulf Coast children were actually thanking the administration for its feeble response to the hurricane.

Once again we see the classic conservative meme: It's only okay when we do it. It's okay when they sing the praises of Die Shrubbenfuhrer (For his catastrophic failure during Katrina, no less).

After seeing all this hoopla over Obama, I've finally decided to revive my old "Outrage of the Week" pieces. This week is about Chuck Norris wanting to stain the American flag.

Chuck Norris: Abandon American flag, or stain it with tea

By John Byrne

The star of Walker: Texas Ranger and pitchman for onetime Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee has called on his readers to abandon the 50-star American flag for a "revolutionary" or stain the old glory with tea.

"If you insist on posting a modern USA flag, too, then get one that is tea-stained to show your solidarity with our Founders," Norris declared this week in a column for the conservative website Human Events.

Norris writes, in the wake of the Sept. 12, 2009 "tea party" protest on the Capitol mall:

As 9/12 concluded, we all heard many ways to keep this revolutionary movement going. But I was sitting back thinking there's one way we can take a daily stand and declare that as for me and my house, we will serve God and the republic as the Founders did.

If that describes you, then I suggest you fly some revolutionary flag in lieu of your 50-star flag over the next year. Post the 13-star Betsy Ross flag, Navy Jack or Gadsden flag ("Don't Tread on Me") or any representation that tells the story of Old Glory and makes a stand for our Founders' vision of America.

Of course, patriots know that the 50-star flag truly represents one nation under God and our Founders' republic, but modernists simply don't get it. So what do you say we make a statement by flying a different flag and educate our neighbors when they ask us, "Why are you flying that flag instead of the contemporary Stars and Stripes?" (If you insist on posting a modern USA flag, too, then get one that is tea-stained to show your solidarity with our Founders.)

I have only one question for Mister Norris: Sir, why do you hate America so much?

The world will be better off once this capital A Asshat is dead.

Stephen McPherson and his wife, Melina, doted on the three teenage sisters at Hope Haven Children's Home.

The couple, house parents at the Christian-based community in Virginia Beach during the late 1990s, treated the girls to dinner and movies. They gave gifts, allowed the girls to stay up later than other children and took them along on vacation.

They also preyed on them.

Court records show the McPhersons manipulated the teens into submitting to fondling, kissing and other sex acts. They cited Bible verses that they said justified the abuse and, afterward, would pray together for God's forgiveness.

On Wednesday, the McPhersons admitted in separate hearings in Virginia Beach

Circuit Court to committing the crimes. Stephen McPherson, a former assistant dean at Regent University, pleaded guilty to taking indecent liberties with two of the girls; his wife pleaded guilty to taking indecent liberties with the third.

Stephen McPherson, 40, already is serving a 16-year sentence after being convicted of similar charges in Chesapeake. He pleaded guilty in January to forcible sodomy and object sexual penetration stemming from incidents involving two of the girls in his Chesapeake home.

The McPhersons adopted the three sisters after leaving Hope Haven in 2000 and moving to Chesapeake, according to court records. Melina McPherson, 37, was not charged in Chesapeake.

In Virginia Beach, the couple agreed to plead guilty in exchange for light prison sentences. Stephen McPherson's plea agreement called for him to serve three years in prison. The agreement for Melina McPherson called for her to serve 40 days in jail. Both must register as sex offenders and must have no unsupervised contact with minors, except for their two sons.

Commonwealth's Attorney Harvey Bryant said there was no indication that either McPherson would abuse their natural sons. The victims weren't pushing for jail time, Bryant said, because they did not want to see the McPhersons' boys, ages 4 and 5, grow up without their parents.

Still, neither parent went home after the hearings Wednesday. Stephen McPherson, shackled and dressed in an orange jumpsuit, was to be returned to the Chesapeake City Jail pending a Sept. 16 sentencing hearing in Virginia Beach.

Melina McPherson cried at the defense table throughout her hearing. Circuit Judge A. Joseph Canada Jr. revoked her bond, despite protests by her attorney, Franklin Swartz.

The judge ordered her jailed pending an Oct. 7 sentencing hearing and review of a psychosexual evaluation.

She was handcuffed in front of the 20 relatives and friends who came to support her and her husband and led from the courtroom.

"It's a terrible crime that she's been involved in," the judge told her attorney. "I'm going to honor the plea agreement... but I think she ought to be in jail right now."

I don't think they should be in jail. I think they should be swiming from the business end of the hangman's noose. Anyone who takes the innocence of a child and dares to use the BIBLE to justify their actions deserves to die.
